There was another All Ireland Title, a National Record and a bronze medal for Doheny A.C. athletes on the last weekend of the 2017 All Ireland track and field in Tullamore. On Saturday 15th Keith McCarthy was competing at the All Ireland B Championships and he had an impressive 3rd place in the U.12 600 meters in a p.b. time of 1:49.83 to win the bronze medal. Maeve O’Neill was competing in the U.14 1500 meters and a very strong last 400 meters saw her win the gold medal in a time of 4:47.64 setting a New National Record for the event, surpassing the old championship best which had stood for 14 years. 2017 was Doheny A.C.’s best year on the track at National level with 6 athletes qualifying for finals and 5 gold and 1 bronze medals won.
